Current practice
Juliana has a wealth of litigation experience, with particular expertise in disputes involving complex legal and factual issues. She has been involved in a number of leading cases at trial, on appeal and in the High Court of Australia as well as arbitrations, regulatory investigations and matters involving foreign and international law.
She has experience in dealing with a wide variety of regulators including ASIC, the ACCC, the ATO, ICAC and various regulators in the telecommunications and other industries.

Experience
Juliana is currently lead partner in a series or cases for Tabcorp involving constitutional and competition issues. She is also acting for ANZ in proceedings against the ACCC. Previous major matters include acting for ANZ in litigation arising from Harris Scarfe’s collapse as a result of fraud. She successfully defended the State of New South Wales against claims made by Austeel over the failed steel mill project in Newcastle and successfully defended ConocoPhillips in proceedings concerning the legality of the Timor Gap treaty and petroleum contracts.
Juliana has also achieved successful outcomes in major matters for:
- a media company in arbitration proceedings over broadcast rights
- a mining company in contractual disputes concerning freight take or pay issues
- a financial institution in multi-party litigation arising out of unauthorised money market and foreign exchange transactions
- a media company in contractual and other disputes raising market power issues
- a professional services firm sued following the collapse of a financial institution involving claims for several billion dollars
- a telecommunications company in disputes over complex supply arrangements
- a trustee involved in multi party litigation concerning misappropriation of millions of dollars by another party
- a telecommunications company in a complex series of disputes raising market power issues
- a statutory authority in relation to probity issues and fraudulent conduct
- a participant in the petrol industry in respect of price fixing allegations made by the ACCC
- a participant in the financial services industry in respect of conduct by its authorised representatives
- a computer software development company in a major contractual dispute arising out of a development contracts, and
- numerous clients in the financial sector involved in ACCC and ASIC investigations.
Juliana is the client relationship partner and a strategic adviser for Tabcorp as well as other Freehills clients including ANZ Bank.

Juliana holds Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Laws degrees from the University of New South Wales. Juliana was noted in Legal Profiles for 2000–01 and 2001–02 and in Chambers Global for 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004–05, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010 and 2011 as a leading practitioner in her field. She was also ranked in Best Lawyers in 2010 and 2011.
