Experience
Freehills acts for three of the four major players in the Australian telecommunications sector and for other participants in the Asia-Pacific region in relation to key strategic projects. Our roles included:
- Advising the Australian Government on one of the most significant telecommunications deals in Australia, the sale of its stake in Telstra via the T1, T2 and T3 transactions.
- Advising Telstra, Australia’s largest telecommunications company in relation to a range of strategic areas, including M&A, large infrastructure projects, strategic litigation, regulatory advice, wholesale and interconnection arrangements, IT/outsourcing projects and product development.
- Advising Vodafone on most of the company’s strategic projects, including Vodafone’s managed services arrangement with Nokia to operate and maintain 2G and 3G networks.
- Advising the Government of Papua New Guinea in relation to reform of the telecommunications regime and related matters, including interconnection arrangements.
