Special Counsel and Executive Counsel
Our Special Counsel and Executive Counsel program enables us to offer exceptional depth of expertise and experience in all practice areas. When you work with one of our Special Counsel or Executive Counsel, you will be dealing with an experienced, partner-quality lawyer who will take a leadership role in your matter.
Special Counsel and Executive Counsel have similar roles. The difference in title largely reflects the fact that Special Counsel have been appointed recognising their particular skills and knowledge in a niche area of specialisation, whereas Executive Counsel are recognised for their depth and breadth of expertise across their practice area. Clients can expect Special Counsel and Executive Counsel at Freehills to work at a level similar to ‘salaried partners’ at some other law firms. Special Counsel and Executive Counsel will generally be responsible for day-to-day team leadership and matter management, as well as working closely with one or more partners on client liaison, key strategic issues and overall management.
