Freehills has announced the appointment of Damian Grave as the firm's new Litigation practice group head, effective from 1 July 2008.
Damian succeeds Keith Steele who is resuming full time legal practice. Keith has held the position since July 2005.
Damian has been a partner at Freehills since 1997. He is a leading commercial litigator with over 17 years experience. Damian’s practice focuses on commercial dispute resolution providing advice to clients involved in complex commercial matters. He has acted for leading Australian listed companies and governments in a broad advisory capacity and in major commercial disputes and investigations.
Damian has special expertise in the conduct of class actions. He is co-author of the first text in Australia on class actions, entitled Class Actions in Australia, published by Thomson.

Originally a graduate of The University of Adelaide, Damian holds a Bachelor of Laws with Honours and a Bachelor of Economics. Prior to joining Freehills in 1992, he completed a Master of Laws from the University of Cambridge. In 1993 he obtained a Bachelor of Civil Law from the University of Oxford. Damian is a member of the Advisory Board of The Melbourne JD.
