Current practice
Alix joined Freehills as Special Counsel in February 2008 as a member of the Technology and Communications group. She advises a range of companies, including in the energy and resources sector, on the acquisition and licensing of technology and intellectual Property (IP) management.
Experience
Alix has 20 years’ practice experience in commercial and IP law in Australia, North America and the Asia-Pacific region. She was Microsoft’s Asia Pacific counsel for seven years with responsibility for provision of all legal services to Microsoft’s business units throughout the region. She worked as a long-term consultant for General Motors Asia-Pacific and its operating units.
She was Vice President of the Business Software Alliance with responsibility for policy development and IP enforcement throughout the Asia-Pacific. In private practice she has represented numerous Australian and international enterprises in a broad range of IP and commercial matters.
Professional background
Alix has Bachelor of Arts (Honours) and Bachelor of Laws from the University of Vienna, Austria and McGill University in Montreal, Canada. She is admitted to practice law in the United Kingdom, Canada, Hong Kong and Australia.
