The Federal Equal Opportunity for Women in the Workplace Agency (EOWA) has named Freehills as an Employer of Choice for Women for the fourth consecutive year.
EOWA certification recognises organisations which address the barriers women face in the workforce and demonstrate policies and practices that support women across the organisation.
It specifically acknowledges Freehills’ commitment to leading the legal profession by improving the career opportunities and experiences of female employees of the firm.
Freehills co-chairs of the Women at Freehills Steering Committee, Kathryn Everett and Jane Hodder, accepted the certification on behalf of the firm.
‘We are very pleased to receive the EOWA citation. We remain committed to progressing women’s advancement into leadership positions and roles that meet their needs, and are thrilled to once again be a recipient of this important acknowledgement of our efforts by EOWA.
‘Our success demonstrates that a focus on equal opportunity for women remains high on our agenda.’
Freehills appointed Ms Everett and Ms Hodder as co-chairs of its Women at Freehills steering committee last year, both are successful senior partners at Freehills and are committed to ensuring women succeed and flourish in a variety of roles at the firm.
Women at Freehills is a strategic initiative aimed at reinforcing a high performance culture where women have fulfilling, successful careers, including partnership and leadership roles which balance their needs at various stages in their lives.
Freehills has a long history of leading the legal industry in its support of women and their career development, and has a strong focus on encouraging diversity. Freehills was the first major Australian law firm to appoint a female partner in 1978, and continues to focus on creating a work environment that enables women to be successful, fulfilled and to take on leadership roles.
