Jau-Shi is a special counsel in the Freehills Corporate team and specialises in oil & gas, energy and mining law.
Experience
Jau-Shi has substantial experience in resources and energy related work. She has advised both vendors and purchasers of substantial energy and resources assets, including due diligence and transaction structuring. She has also advised project owners on project development, joint ventures, structuring and financing, operation and maintenance application of State Agreements, unitisation, product sale and transportation contracts and government regulation.
Jau-Shi’s recent experience includes acting for:
- the proponents of a Coal Seam Gas commercialisation project in Queensland
- Managers in the development of the Bayu-Undan Project in the Timor Sea and the Darwin LNG Project
- Australian Pipeline Trust / Enbridge Inc on their consortium bid for the Dampier to Bunbury Gas Pipeline
- Chevron in relation to the Gorgon Gas Project
- North West Shelf joint venture’s sale of equity to China National Offshore Oil Corporation, as a component of the A$25 billion LNG supply contract between the joint venture and China National Offshore Oil Corporation, which at the time, was the largest commodity sales agreement in Australian history, and
- the ConocoPhillips Sunrise LNG project and cooperation activities in the Timor Sea.
Professional background
Jau-Shi holds both a Bachelor of Laws degree and a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Western Australia and was admitted to practice in 1999. Jau-Shi speaks conversational Mandarin and is accredited with Certificate III in the Chinese Language.
Jau-Shi has lectured and tutored at various universities in Australia, in a variety of areas, including Corporate Law and resources related topics. She is a regular lecturer at the International Gas Business Course organised by the University of Western Australia and Curtin University.
Jau-Shi is affiliated with the Association of International Petroleum Negotiators and the Australian Mining and Petroleum Law Association.
