Jared has significant experience in the preparation and negotiation of off-take agreements, supply arrangements, connection agreements, development and construction related agreements including engineering, procurement and construction contracts, split ‘EPC’ contracts, equipment supply contracts, FEED contracts, ‘early contractor involvement’ contracts, operation and maintenance agreements, alliance agreements, BOO and BOOT contracts and other related project documents.

Recent Experience

Power generation projects

• Adviser to AGL in connection with the design, construction, operation and maintenance of a gas-fired co-generation facility for Qenos’ Polyethylene operations at Altona. The project involved the preparation and negotiation of the agreements for the provision of energy services to Qenos as well as the gas supply arrangements and the downstream documents for the supply, installation and long term maintenance of the turbine generator set and the design and construction of the balance of plant. Jared and his team also advised AGL on the structure of the deal to address potential liabilities under the Renewable Energy Target Scheme
• Adviser to Arrow Energy and ERM Power in relation to the development and financing of the 450MW Stage 2 development of the Braemar gas-fired power station in Queensland including the preparation and negotiation of the ‘power island’ supply contract and ‘balance of plant and power island erection’ contract and interface arrangements between the various contractors, and the negotiation of the connection and access arrangements with Powerlink Queensland
• Adviser to Babcock & Brown Power and ERM Power in relation to the development and financing of a 300MW gas-fired peaking power station in Neerabup, Western Australia including the preparation and negotiation of the engineering, procurement and construction documentation for the power station and gas pipeline lateral and the gas supply and transportation arrangements and the negotiation of the connection arrangements with Western Power
• Adviser to Babcock & Brown Power and ERM Power in relation to the development and financing of the 600MW gas-fired peaking power station in Uranquinty, near Wagga Wagga including the preparation and negotiation of the Siemens ‘power island’ supply contract, AREVA T&D transformer supply contract and ‘balance of plant and power island erection’ contract and interface arrangements between the various contractors
• Adviser to ERM Power in relation to the proposed development of a 600MW gas-fired peaking power station in Wellington, New South Wales including the negotiation of the ‘turnkey’ engineering, procurement and construction documentation for the power station
• Adviser to Siemens and ERM Power in relation to the proposed development of the 450MW Stage 3 development of the Braemar gas-fired power station in Queensland including the negotiation of the ‘turnkey’ engineering, procurement and construction documentation for the power station and the long term maintenance arrangements for the gas turbines
• Adviser to Alinta Energy in relation to the expansion of the Newman gas-fired power station for BHPB in the Pilbara region
• Adviser to Babcock & Brown Power in relation to the development and sale of the Tamar Valley gas-fired power station in Tasmania including negotiation of the connection arrangements with Transend
• Adviser to Alinta Energy in relation to the long term service arrangements for the GE gas turbines at the Newman, Port Hedland and Boodarie power stations in the Pilbara region and the Rolls Royce Trent 60 gas turbine at the Newman power station
• Adviser to NRG in relation to the refurbishment of the 240MW coal-fired Playford Power Station in Port Augusta, South Australia

Power transmission projects

• Adviser to MMG in relation to the connection and access arrangements for connection of the Dugald River mining project to the proposed CopperString transmission network, involving the proposed development of a transmission line to connect Mt Isa and the North West Queensland Mining Province to the National Electricity Market in Townsville
• Adviser to Babcock & Brown Power and ERM Power in relation to the connection development arrangements with TransGrid for the Uranquinty gas-fired power station including the negotiation of the downstream arrangements with United for the upgrade of the 132kV transmission lines from Wagga to Yanco and Wagga to Finley and the engineering, procurement and construction of the Uranquinty switchyard
• Adviser to Alinta Energy in relation to the bid for the finance and upgrade of electricity transmission facilities for VENCorp and the provision of electricity transmission network services over a 30 year period including the negotiation of the downstream EPC contract with AREVA T&D
• Adviser to National Grid on various aspects of the Basslink project documentation for the cable link between the Tasmanian and Victorian electricity grids including the engineering, procurement and construction documentation, connection agreements, connection asset development agreements and system protection scheme

• Adviser to Santos in relation to the various onshore and offshore EPC packages for PNG LNG including the LNG plant, marine facilities and LNG storage tanks, the offshore portion of the pipeline, the onshore portion of the pipeline, the gas conditioning plant and well pads
• Adviser to MMG Australia in relation to the proposed development of the Dugald River mining project in the north-west minerals province near Mt Isa, Queensland
• Adviser to MMG Australia in relation to port access arrangements at Townsville, Queensland

Pipeline projects

• Adviser to Santos in relation to the preparation and negotiation of the engineering, procurement and construction of the VIC/P44 subsea pipeline to be connected to, and used for the transportation of gas from, the Casino gas development in offshore Victoria
• Adviser to Santos in relation to the various onshore and offshore EPC packages for PNG LNG including both the offshore and onshore portion of the pipeline
• Adviser to the Senior Banks in relation to the engineering, procurement and construction arrangements for $500,000,000 Stage 3 expansion of the South West Queensland Pipeline which runs from South Eastern Queensland to Moomba in South Australia (where it connects to Epic's Moomba to Adelaide and Moomba to Sydney pipelines)
• Adviser to Babcock & Brown Infrastructure in relation to the 'separation' of the Eastern Gas Pipeline and the Tasmanian Gas Pipeline and associated gas transportation arrangements and transfer services
