Alan Peckham has been the Director, Knowledge and Information Logistics since October 2011.
As director, Alan is responsible for the firm’s Knowledge group, which includes the firm’s Knowledge Centres and Knowledge and Learning teams, and for the firm’s Information Logistics group. The Information Logistics group assists Freehills’ legal teams and clients, manage and analyse information during the conduct of complex transactions and litigation matters.
Alan has been a partner of Freehills since 2006. Before moving to his current role, Alan was the head of Freehills’ Consumer Financial Services team (now known as the Banking Regulatory team). Alan has particular expertise and experience in consumer credit and retail banking law, payment systems regulation, anti-money laundering legislation and privacy legislation. He also has significant experience in many other banking and finance practice areas, including corporate, property and project finance.
Alan has a Bachelor of Arts degree with Honours from the University of Western Australia, a Bachelor of Laws degree from Monash University and a Master of Laws from Monash University specialising in banking and finance law and a Master of Business Administration (Professional) from the University of Melbourne (Melbourne Business School).
Alan has contributed to the LexisNexis Australian Consumer Credit Law Journal and the Journal of International Banking Law and is co-author of ‘Legal Issues arising out of Financial Crime’ in Lexis Nexis’ electronic service ‘Anti-Money Laundering and Financial Crime’.
Alan is a Senior Fellow of the University of Melbourne and lectures in the subject of Consumer Banking as part of the Law Faculty’s Master of Laws program.
