Current practice

Dan is a litigation partner in Freehills' Perth office. Dan is particularly interested in areas of corporate governance and risk management, particularly in respect of companies in financial distress.

Industry experience

Dan has practised commercial litigation for over eight years. Dan has successfully represented clients in litigious matters involving business acquisitions and insolvency. Dan also has extensive experience in representing clients in other courts and in other forms of dispute resolution including that arising from his significant experience in employee relations.

Dan is currently involved in the largest commercial litigation matter in Western Australian legal history involving the defence of a $1 billion plus claim against various Australian and international financial institutions, including Westpac, National Australia Bank, Commonwealth Bank of Australia and Lloyds Bank Plc.

Professional background

Dan graduated from the University of Western Australia in 1992 with a Bachelor of Laws and was admitted to practise in the Supreme Court of Western Australia in 1993. He is also admitted to practise in the High Court and Federal Court. He was appointed a partner of Freehills in 2004.

Dan is a member of the Law Society of Western Australia's Courts Committee and is a regular speaker on behalf of that Society's Young Lawyers Committee.
