Current practice

Tracey is a registered patent attorney with a degree in engineering and specialises in all aspects of mechanical engineering. Tracey deals largely with the preparation of patent specifications and providing advice on patent portfolio management. She also has local knowledge of New Zealand's patent system.

Industry experience

Tracey's professional experience encompasses most aspects of mechanical engineering with a large amount of her practice involving the preparation and drafting of patent specifications. The technical areas of her experience include automotive and agricultural engineering, civil engineering, electro-mechanical/electronic switches and circuit breakers, packaging technology, medical and surgical devices, reclining and dynamic chairs.

Professional background

Tracey graduated with a bachelor degree in engineering (manufacturing and materials) from the University of Queensland. She entered the patent profession in 1989, working for Brisbane's largest firm of patent attorneys. Following a move to Melbourne in 1993, Tracey worked for Carter Smith and Beadle where she completed the requirements for registration as a patent attorney in Australia. Tracey is currently a Fellow of the Institute of Patent and Trade Mark Attorneys of Australia.

From 1996 to 2002, Tracey worked for New Zealand's premier firm of patent attorneys, rising to the position of senior associate. During her time in New Zealand, Tracey gained considerable experience in the intellectual property systems of New Zealand and achieved registration as a New Zealand patent attorney. Tracey is currently a Fellow of the New Zealand Institute of Patent Attorneys.

Tracey is also a member of the Intellectual Property Society of Australia and New Zealand.
