Murray's expertise covers all aspects of commercial property practice and he has acted for property developers, institutions and public and wholesale trusts in relation to the development, acquisition, leasing and disposal of CBD and major commercial, retail and industrial property throughout Australia.

Industry experience

Murray has acted on a number of major property transactions including:

• acting for Lend Lease / Darling Park Trust on the development and sale of Darling Park Sydney, including the leasing of 32,000 square metres to PriceWaterhouseCoopers, one of Australia's largest ever commercial leases
• acting on the commercial and residential redevelopment of Aurora Place Sydney
• advising on the joint venture development of Fox Studios Australia
• advising Lend Lease in relation to its planned community developments in New South Wales, Victoria and Queensland including joint venture developments with ComLand, Lensworth and General Property Trust
• acting for Colonial First State in the merger of the Colonial First State Property Trust Group and the Gandel Retail Trust
• acting for Macquarie Goodman Industrial Trust in the acquisition and development of industrial properties at North Ryde and Moorebank
• advising Valad Property Group on its recent IPO.

Murray has had extensive experience in the retail sector and he has acted for the principal developers and owners in this sector in the development and redevelopment of prime regional and smaller shopping centres from 'greenfield' sites, the leasing of the centres to Australia's major retailers and the disposal of various ownership interests in those shopping centres. In addition, Murray has been involved in the acquisition and redevelopment of existing centres.

Professional background

Murray has Bachelor of Arts and Master of Laws degrees from the University of Sydney. He joined the firm in 1984 and became a partner in 1987.
