Current practice

Roger is a registered patent attorney in Australia and New Zealand. He is involved in all aspects of the preparation and prosecution of Australian and international patent applications, including oppositions, and advises clients on patent validity and infringement issues.

Industry experience

Roger’s technical background is in electrical engineering. He has had over a decade of industry experience as an electrical engineer, specialising in the area of control systems and instrumentation, with significant exposure in the minerals processing industry.

As a patent attorney, Roger is experienced in drafting and prosecuting patent applications for information technology products, including software applications, computer graphics, data management and searching systems. He has also dealt with a range of medical diagnostic devices and related software.

Roger also drafts and prosecutes business software and business process patents.

Professional background

Roger received a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from the University of the Witwatersrand, South Africa. He has also received a Master of Science in System Analysis and Control from the University of Manchester Institute of Science & Technology. Since residing in Australia, Roger has also gained a Master of Industrial Property degree from the University of Technology, Sydney.

Roger is a fellow of the Institute of Patent and Trademark Attorneys of Australia and a member of the Intellectual Property Society of Australia and New Zealand.
