Freehills wins IFLR Pro Bono Law Firm of the Year
17 March 2006Freehills was presented with the Pro Bono Law Firm of the Year Award at the prestigious International Financial Law Review (IFLR) Asian Awards ceremony, which took place at the Ritz Carlton in Hong Kong on 15 March 2006.
Speaking about this significant achievement, Freehills’ Chief Executive Officer Gavin Bell said he was pleased and proud to receive the IFLR Pro Bono award, which recognises the outstanding work done in an often overlooked, but extremely important category of law.
‘Freehills, and I am sure many of our industry colleagues, sees pro bono as a noble and important part of our legal professional responsibility. I believe the IFLR should be congratulated for acknowledging and rewarding its importance in legal service provision.
‘I would like to give my sincere thanks to the IFLR for its recognition of Freehills’ work in the pro bono arena. I would also like to thank Freehills’ pro bono clients for their commitment to working in partnership with us to improve the lives of disadvantaged people, and of course acknowledge the commitment of our people, which in the end make these success stories happen,’ said Gavin.
Last year as part of its Pro Bono Program, Freehills worked with over 380 clients plus 600 clients at our Shopfront Youth Legal Centre and hundreds more through our solicitor secondments to public interest legal centres. The hallmarks of Freehills’ Pro Bono Program are that it shares the firm’s standard of excellence and is long established.
‘It is my great thrill to see these significant efforts recognised in such an esteemed international forum, and the awards ceremony is a terrific way to celebrate the region’s top market players and their significant achievements over the past year,’ Gavin said.
