As a management team, we understand the importance of a dynamic working environment and we work hard to ensure that the firm's culture is stimulating and enjoyable for all our people.'
Gavin Bell
Chief Executive Officer
As one of Australia's largest commercial law firms, we know that ultimately, our continued success is based on the confidence a client has in our advice and the commerciality of that advice. With this in mind, we recognise that the quality of our people is vital to our success and therefore aim to attract and retain individuals who have the ability, ambition and enthusiasm to excel, both professionally and personally. We also take pride in the fact that many of our graduate recruits stay with the firm and ultimately achieve partnership.
Life as a graduate lawyer at Freehills is one of intense learning. Our Graduate Acceleration Program (GAP) fosters this by encouraging the acquisition and sharing of knowledge at all levels of the practice.
Should you choose to join Freehills, the GAP would provide you and your fellow graduates a two year nationally coordinated program which includes regularly scheduled training events, seminars, role-playing sessions and practical skill-building sessions. Its aim is to provide graduates with the ability to develop their business skills and legal knowledge across a broad range of areas.
The two year program features:
- a comprehensive orientation program upon commencement with Freehills
- rotations in different practice groups where graduates can learn 'on the job'
- a national graduate workshop where all our graduates have the opportunity to establish a peer network and develop key skills
- core legal learning in transactional, litigious and specialist areas of Freehills' practice
- skills training in areas such as researching, drafting, communication and business skills
- opportunities for personal and group development.
Our Core Legal Learning (CLL) program represents a substantial commitment by all practice groups to deliver you specialist training as a graduate. The depth of the program demonstrates Freehills' commitment to your career development and servicing our clients in the best possible way.
In addition to the program, graduates will be able to access firm-wide and practice group-specific programs throughout the year. These include in-house briefings from our clients on their business operations, objectives and challenges, as well as briefings from economists and other industry experts who discuss the economy and the market dynamics in which our clients operate.
The GAP is just one example of Freehills' desire to enable all graduates to feel supported in developing their performance and ultimately, their careers.
